A dramatic episode at the end of the Spanish Civil War deeply marked the family of Miquel Vilà. On January 1939, a bombardment out the civilian population in Barcelona, just a few weeks before Franco's entry into Barcelona, killed the painter's maternal grandmother and two brothers, two young children. It was not until a few years ago that the painter was able to express his feelings about that tragedy in paintings. These works, belonging to the most recent production of the painter, were exhibited for the first time in an exhibition organized by the City Council of Centelles in 2019.
